Equation Writer

It would be great if you can add a equation writer feature, like a latex interpreter or something like that. It would be useful for engineers.

That's the first thing I thought. As a math teacher, symbolic notation is crucial to information processing.

Thank you for your post. We have noted this in our feature list and welcome others to add their voice to this post.

As an Electrical Engineering student that needs to collaborate with teammates on advanced programming state machines and math topics, I just want to second this suggestion! I am utilizing the free version, but am contemplating a paid account. Thanks btw for this awesome product.

It would be so great to have a feature like that. In my field of studies it is absolutely neccessary to work with long equations. An integrated LaTex editor would be awesome.

I also would find extremely helpful to be able to insert formulas directly in Latex style. I am currently inserting images with the formulas but is a less ideal way.

This would expand the applications for which I use LucidChart, I would use this.

Google's "Coggle.it" already does LaTex in its version of Lucidchart..  (ie: LaTex expressions Inline in the text of labels).

Since Coggle.it  is open source (and free) ...   Lucidchart should be able to have LaTex without waiting any longer.....

This is crucial. Need to have math symbols such as delta and degrees available in text formatting.

It is usefulness for me without the pretty formatted equations in Latex.

The equation editing (using raw LaTaX) function is really crucial to me, please add it. I think MathJax is a very good choice for implementing this.

literally copy and pasted a photo of an equation into lucid yesterday - yes please :)

A way to have equations in the chart is a no-brainer. If it could use latex syntax, it would be wonderful.

I am using a web based latex tool, and dragging the image to a google doc...and when I am finished with all of them, I am dragging it over to Lucid charts. Developers need have access to the mathematical models that they'll be coding, and they don't really need to know what it is. They just have to plug it in..... adding a layer with the mathematics and all the variables, and a different layer with plain english is needed.... If a competing tool has latex functionality that is where my money will go when my free subscription is up; otherwise beautiful, and very easy to use.

I am now writing a mathematical equation and want to input this equation to LucidChart. However, the LucidChart cannot recognize the equation and show strange error text. I can now only input the equation by saving that equation to a jpeg format and then upload it as an user image. I think it will be a great way to include an equation editor with symbols and functions just like that in Microsoft Word. :D

Thanks for your additional posts about this feature. We are exploring the possibility of this feature and how it would work inside Lucidchart.  I'd love to know more details about how you'd expect the feature to work and what the final product is for you (exporting to PDF, sharing published webpage, inserting into Powerpoint). All details are helpful.

Thanks!

Hi Mitch,

My idea is LucidChart can let user to insert and edit a mathematical equation at a textbox. Please see that attached file for my 2 examples.
I think the basic mathematical symbols (Such as division, square root sign, inequality sign, pi, theta, omega) should be included. Furthermore, if it is possible, the summation sign, limit sign and integration sign could be include.

My output format is a jpeg/ pdf file that I can send to my colleague/ friends through email to share my idea.

:D

I would like to use this idea to help students of mine in geometry do Geometric Flow proofs. To make this work, I would need to be able to quickly insert some symbols for Angle, Triangle, Circle, LineSegment, Parallel, Perpendicular, congruent etc.   I think in general a Latex editor would handle this, but would be nice to have a "custom keyboard" where i could put my symbols that I frequently use and just click them to insert the symbol in text box.  haven't thought this out fully, but it goes along with this idea.
