Export/Download Your Lucidchart Documents

It can be helpful to export your work to different formats for ease of sharing, publishing, and printing. Lucidchart allows you to export your documents as PDFs, PNGs, JPEGs, and SVGs as well as VDX (Visio) files and CSVs of shape data. Read on to learn how to export your documents to these different file types.

To export a document as a PDF, PNG, JPEG, or SVG file, follow these steps:
  1. Open the document you would like to export.

  4. Customize your download settings. See section below for details, and see the Page and Document Settings Help Center article for more information about document formatting.
  5. Click “Download.” Your document will download to your local device.
Depending on the file format to which you are downloading, you will be able to customize various elements of the file’s format.

For PDFs, PNGs, JPEGs, and SVGs, you will have the option to crop your document before downloading. You can select Crop to content to remove any whitespace around the contents of your document. This option will also include any content that is off the page tiles of your document.

If you want to make an area selection of the content you'd like to crop, select Custom Crop, then drag from the corners and sides of the selection frame to surround the content you'd like to download.

When the frame is your desired size and shape, click Continue.
If you are downloading to JPEG or PNG, you will have the option to adjust the content quality of the content downloaded image file. Select one of the following options from the “quality” dropdown:
  • Current zoom level
  • Screen quality
  • Print quality
Are you exporting a multi-layered document? To export each layer on a separate page, download your document as a PDF and select “Include Layers” next to “Document Page(s)” in the download settings. You can find more information about downloading multi-layered documents here.
If you are downloading to PDF, you will have the option to divide your downloaded document by page tiles. To do so, select “divide by page tiles” beneath Content. Note that when you select this option, Lucidchart will treat page in the same way it treats individual pages, so you may end up with many-paged downloaded file!

You can show your page tiles or adjust their size in your Page Settings (you will have to close out of the download window to access this).
To generate a CSV of the shape data associated with your Lucidchart document, follow these steps:
  1. Open the document.
  2. File > Export > CSV of Shape Data.
