Gliffy to Lucidchart Conversion in Confluence

Any Gliffy files inserted into a Confluence page or added as an attachment to a page can be converted into Lucidchart files within Confluence. Choose your instance below for detailed steps on how to do so with each.

Page Conversion:

When you're on a specific page in Confluence, you can convert Gliffy macros to Lucidchart macros following these simple steps:

  1. In page view mode, go to the dot menu in the top right corner of the page.
  2. Click "Convert Gliffy Diagrams.”

  3. You will be taken to a "Convert Gliffy Diagrams" screen and then back to the Confluence page after the conversion is complete.

Space Conversion:

If you would like to convert all of the Gliffy diagrams within an entire Confluence space to Lucidchart diagrams at once, follow these steps:

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right corner of Confluence.
  2. Click “Add-ons” and expand the Lucidchart plugin.
  3. Go to "Configure."
  4. Click the "Mass Gliffy Conversion" tab on the left sidebar.
  5. Press the "Update" button, which will search Confluence for any Gliffy diagrams that have not yet been converted into Lucidchart diagrams.
  6. Press "Convert" to automatically convert all Gliffy diagrams to Lucidchart diagrams in the respective space.

Notes on conversion:

  • Only Gliffy diagrams actually attached to the current page and inserted into it (referenced by Gliffy macros) will be converted.
  • If a Gliffy macro points to a particular version, that is the version that will be converted.
  • Gif images from Gliffy diagrams are not converted.
  • To restore a Gliffy diagram, press the tool's dot menu in the right-hand corner of the screen and select "Page History." Select a version of the Confluence page from before the conversion and restore that version. After the restore, you should see the macro as a Gliffy diagram again.

Space Conversion:

  1. Click the gear icon in the top right corner of Confluence.

  2. Select "Add-ons" from the drop down menu that appears.

  3. In the menu on the left side of your screen, select “Lucidchart Plugin Configuration,” located below the “CONFIGURATION” heading.

  4. Select the tab titled “Mass Gliffy Import (Beta),” and select “Search” to locate the Gliffy diagrams on your Confluence instance.

  5. Select “Convert.”

Lucidchart now allows users to automatically convert all Gliffy diagrams and macros on a page or within an entire space to Lucidchart macros.

Page Conversion:

  1. Open a Confluence page with Gliffy diagrams.
  2. Click the dot menu in the top right corner of the page. The menu should have a "Convert Diagrams to Lucidchart" option. This option will NOT appear if any of the following apply:
    • There are no Gliffy diagrams on the page.
    • The current user doesn't have edit permissions to the page.
    • The Lucidchart add-on has no license or has an expired license.

Space Conversion:

If you would like to convert all of the Gliffy diagrams within a specific Confluence space to Lucidchart diagrams at once, follow these steps:

  1. Select the gear icon in the top right corner of Confluence.
  2. Click “Add-ons” and expand the Lucidchart plugin.
  3. Go to "Configure."
  4. Under the Configuration page, click on the Mass Gliffy Import tab.
  5. Press the "Update" button, which will search Confluence for any Gliffy diagrams that have not yet been converted into Lucidchart diagrams.
  6. Press "Convert" to automatically convert all Gliffy diagrams to Lucidchart diagrams in the respective space.

Notes on conversion:

  • Only Gliffy diagrams actually attached to the current page and inserted into it (referenced by Gliffy macros) will be converted.
  • If a Gliffy macro points to a particular version, that is the version that will be converted.
  • The first time the viewer loads the converted diagrams, it will have no loading thumbnail but will have the same size as the original Gliffy diagram. However, after the viewer has loaded, it will make a thumbnail and save it in a new version of the attachment.
  • Gif images from Gliffy diagrams are not converted.
  • To restore a Gliffy diagram, press the "Tools" dot menu on the page and select "Page History." Select a version of the Confluence page from before the conversion and restore that version. After the restore, you should see the macro as a Gliffy diagram again.
